Psalm 139
1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
Luke 1
62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
Prayer
The following prayer is inspired by a very powerful sermon by David Wilkerson titled When God Lays His Hand on You.
Jesus, put your hand on me, and keep it there forever. I’m an imperfect vessel Lord, but I give my life to you and I’m ready to go all in.
Show me my purpose, Jesus. I don’t want to waste another day living outside of the plan you have for me. I give up my own will and pray for it to be replaced by your will.
Jesus, show me any sin within me and help wash it clean. I don’t want anything evil or wicked in my life. If I am doing anything against your will Lord, then I lay it down.
I wish to be a doer of the Word Lord, not just a hearer. Guide me to perform your will boldly. I love you God, and seek the crown promised to those who love you.
I accept that at times your hand will restrain me; let it be, so I don’t fall into the belly of the whale. If I must go through darkness, I ask Heavenly Father that you surround me and puncture it with your light.
Yahweh, I ask that you also put your hand on all those reading or listening to these words. Transform us completely, Lord. Descend into our souls and set us on fire for you.
Touch our hearts, Holy Father. Let us know you more fully, set us apart and use us for your glory. Draw us towards you God and pull us close. Build a wall around us and pour your Holy Ghost into us.
Lord of Hosts, rebuke the enemy when he comes to divert us from our heavenly paths and protect our minds from his attacks. Bathe us in peace, gift us with wisdom from above, and lift us up.
I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
I was asking God to "show me His hand in my life" today-- before I saw this post. Every part of your post spoke to me today 🙌🏽
Thank you for the uplifting prayer! This is my favorite part: "Jesus, put your hand on me, and keep it there forever. I’m an imperfect vessel Lord, but I give my life to you and I’m ready to go all in." The world teaches us to consume, gather, and hoard all we can. Popular Christians teachers even teach to us to "claim" what's ours and take as much as we can. However, your post demonstrates that maturing in Christ means we desire to be used by the Lord as vessels. We want him work through us. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, and we want others to learn of him. May God bless you.😊
